A breakthrough in pain management Aventura - is a new class of painkillers on the horizon?
We don’t always realize that our modern lifestyles are not as healthy as we think they are. Perhaps this is because we think of our current civilization as being the most modern and advanced to ever exist. The average lifespan and the quality of life increased significantly. We know more about modern science - including modern medicine - than ever before. However, despite all the progress that has been made, our new lifestyles bring with them new challenges and problems. But what exactly are the consequences and dangers of our modern lifestyles?
The consequences of our modern lifestyle - pain management doctor in Aventura explains:
“Apart from the so called lifestyle diseases (e.g. obesity and diabetes), it is the consequences of the unavoidable aging process, sedentary work and improper physical activity that we worry about - says Dr. Escobar - a leading provider of interventional pain management in Aventura. It is the physical pain that we learnt to accept as part of our life, but we shouldn’t do so, because pain always goes beyond just the physical and impacts our mental and emotional health. As a result the quality of our lives decrease and so do the relationships with those we care about” - he adds.
Aventura pain management - the effective and proper use of pain management vs addiction
Physical pain has alway been a part of human life and it seems to be an intrinsic part of the human condition. So is pain something that we will always have to tolerate and learn to live with? Thanks to new research, perhaps not! A new promising discovery regarding painkillers has been recently made and www.sciencemag.org explained the discovery in this publication.
It says that researchers have a new way to fight pain and reduce opioid addiction - the inevitable consequence of some pain managements treatments, especially administered to patients suffering from injuries, post surgical pain, and chronic pain. Today, the most potent painkillers used in pain management are opioids, including heroin, oxycodone, and hydrocodone. In addition to interrupting pain, they inhibit enzymes known as adenylyl cyclases (ACs) that convert cells’ energy currency, ATP, into a molecule involved in intercellular chemical communication known as cyclic AMP (cAMP). Chronic opioid use can make cells increase the activity of ACs to compensate, causing cAMP levels to skyrocket. When opioid users try to stop taking their pills, their cAMP levels remain high, and drugs that reduce those levels—like buprenorphine—have unwanted side effects. To put it in simple terms, pain and addiction have many biochemical roots, which makes it difficult to treat them without affecting other critical functions in cells.
Revolutionary painkillers - a new Aventura pain management secret weapon?
We learnt that the scientists are chasing this new generation of drugs that may one day fight both pain and opioid addiction, but unfortunately the research is still in its early days hence the newly discovered compound isn’t likely to become a medicine any time soon. That’s why any professional pain management doctor in Aventura must be carefully adjusted to each and every patient’s needs and particular condition. Pain must be targeted at its source - only this way the treatment will be safe and will bring a long lasting relief without unnecessary side effects.
